Las Vegas

Welcome to Las Vegas, Nevada, one of the busiest and most popular entertainment centers on the planet. If you’re not ready for an action-packed stay filled with magnificent casinos and hotels, world class chefs and shopping, and some heavy-duty stage acts, you might want to stay on the plane and keep on going.

Over the years, Las Vegas has grown from a small mob-influenced town in the middle of nowhere into one of the most famous gambling centers anywhere. In fact, it’s quickly become the fastest-growing city in America. Las Vegas offers plenty of things to do, even for those who aren’t tempted by the numerous games of chance. However, if the slot machines and roulette tables are your thing, Vegas will seem like heaven. In fact you don’t even have to wait to get into town to try your luck as the airport offers numerous slot machines for you to warm up on.

While thousands of people flock to the casinos for the games, free drinks, and endless all-you-can-eat buffets, Many others visit them just to see the amazing architectural designs and workmanship that has been put into most of these buildings. If it wasn’t for the continuous sound of the slot machines, you could easily mistake some of these locations as royal palaces.

Not only are the insides of the casinos and resorts amazing structures, you’ll be amazed to see that just as much detail and work has gone into the outsides of them as well. Where else in the world, other than Las Vegas, could you walk down the street and see replicas of the Eiffel Tower, and the New York City skyline.

Las Vegas also attracts thousands of sports and entertainment fans from all over the globe on a regular basis as it features numerous top-class sporting events, stage shows and concerts. All of the top-drawing entertainers make Vegas a regular stop on their tours as many of the resorts have theatres built into them. You’ll also see world-championship boxing matches here on a regular basis as well as NASCAR racing.

The city is well known for its quickie weddings and as a destination for honeymoons, wedding parties, and the like. And while its popular nickname is Sin City, many visitors enjoy taking their children to stay at the themed-resorts and to see the endless stream of lights and water shows on the Las Vegas Strip. In another oddity, as well as being suitable for older children, ’Sin City’ also has the most churches per capita than any other major American city.

While Las Vegas was officially named as a city in 1911, it has a long and storied history, mostly because of its location. This is ideal for travelers who might want to take a break from the sights and sounds of the city itself as there are several popular attractions nearby. These include Hoover Dam, and Lake Mead. Excursions to the Grand Canyon are also popular. Many tourists also like to rent a car and take a drive into the nearby desert and mountains to see the rock formations and the local wildlife.

Getting around Las Vegas is quite easy as most people prefer to walk to see as many sights as possible, but there are many free shuttles, hundreds of taxis, a bus system as well as a monorail for those who are exhausted from all the action.

If you have a hard time enjoying a few days in Las Vegas, you may want to check yourself for a pulse.
